Our Story

Our journey began in Berkley, Michigan, under a different name: Speed A Go-Go. This beloved slot car emporium then took a playful turn when we introduced aboveground swimming pools, birthing the original Pools A Go-Go. By 1969, our passion for pools had grown, and we expanded to Utica, welcoming spas into our offerings. In 1997, we reached another milestone by opening our third location in Rochester Hills, solidifying our commitment to providing exceptional service across the region. As spas became an integral part of our business, we naturally incorporated "Spas" into our name, reflecting our comprehensive expertise and dedication to both pools and spas.

The Bishop family is the heart and soul of Pools & Spas A Go-Go. Driven by a passion for excellent customer service and a deep understanding of the pool and spa industry, we've built a legacy of success and customer satisfaction.

Meet Our Team

Our dedicated team is comprised of family members and long-time employees who share a genuine passion for helping our customers create their dream backyards.

Steve Bishop, our owner, began his journey at Pools & Spas A Go-Go in 1976. Since then, he's worked his way from the ground up, becoming a manager and eventually acquiring the business, carrying on his father and uncle's legacy.

Tom Bishop, Steve's brother, started working at the Berkley store alongside his brother during his summers throughout high school and college. His passion for the business led him to manage the Rochester store after graduating with a marketing degree from Michigan State University. Now back at the Berkley store, Tom cherishes working in the same community where he raised his three boys.

Caren Stark, our office manager for accounts payable, began her career at Pools & Spas A Go-Go during her high school and college summers, eventually returning to the family business in 1994. She enjoys the warm and supportive environment and the familiarity of working alongside various members of her extended family.

Laura Shell, our office manager for service coordination, started her journey with us in 1982, initially working as a cashier and lab technician at the Berkley store. She continued her dedication throughout college and beyond, eventually taking on a leading role in creating and managing our pool service department.
